A man has been arrested in connection with an attack on an 84-year-old Suitland woman in February, police said.
Rodney William Blanton, 56, was arrested on Aug. 30 in his Suitland home. He faces charges including first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and robbery, according to Prince George's County police.
The victim told police that on Feb. 1, a man knocked on her door and posed as a neighbor. He forced his way inside her home, assaulted her, stole money and fled. The woman, who sustained multiple injuries, was on the floor of her home for more than 24 hours before a neighbor saw her door ajar and called police.
During the assault, the woman bit Blanton on the hand and caused him to bleed, police said. As a result, detectives were able to identify Blanton through DNA evidence.
Blanton is being held without bond.
