A Virginia man has been arrested for an arson at a Prince William County church, officials said.

Maurice Michaely, of Haymarket, was charged Thursday with burning or destroying a dwelling house, county fire officials said. He was being held without bond Friday and has a court date scheduled for Jan. 23.

The intentionally set fire occurred on Aug. 10 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 15008 Lee Highway in Gainesville. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw flames shooting from the side, rear and roof of the building and smoke emitting from the structure. No one was injured.

During the course of the investigation, investigators identified Michaely as a suspect. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
