A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a string of sexual assaults in Suitland, police said.

Curtis Lee Sargent Jr. faces charges including rape and first-degree assault, according to Prince George's County police.

About 3 a.m. Thursday, a man stopped Sargent on Suitland Road and asked for directions to the Suitland Metro Station. Police said Sargent showed a handgun, demanded money, took the victim to a park in the 5900 block of Suitland Road and sexually assaulted him.

About 40 minutes later, two women were walking home in the 6200 block of Suitland Road when Sargent showed a handgun and sexually assaulted one of the women, police said. That woman escaped, and while she was trying to get help, Sargent sexually assaulted the other woman in a front yard.

Authorities canvassed the area and captured Sargent at John Street and Suitland Road with the help of a police dog.
