WASHINGTON (AP) — A D.C. man has been convicted of killing two men, one of whom was struck when a bullet went through the intended target.

Twenty-three-year-old Arvel Crawford was convicted this week of first- and second-degree murder in Superior Court in Washington. Crawford faces a life term at sentencing May 16.

According to the government's evidence, on Aug. 14, 2008, Crawford fired several shots at 18-year-old Johnquan Wright, with whom he had a dispute.

Prosecutors say one of the shots went through Wright and hit 61-year-old Nolan Cooper, a bystander.

Crawford is serving an 18-year sentence for killing his father in 2009 during an attempted robbery.
