A man has been fatally shot inside a Northeast D.C. home, police said.

About 8:15 p.m. Thursday, officers went to a residence in the 4400 block of Sixth Place NE for the report of a burglary with a shooting victim. Police found 24-year-old Jermile Damon Davis, of SE Washington, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said.

Police are investigating the incident. Alali said that nothing was reported to have been taken.
