A 30-year-old Sterling man has been found fatally shot inside a sport-utility vehicle in Loudoun County, officials said.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies went to the area of Great Trail Terrace and Trail Run Terrace in Sterling to check on the welfare of a person. The victim, Jovaughn J. Johnson, was found dead at the scene, inside a 2002 white Mercedes Benz SUV, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. He had been shot multiple times.

Authorities believe that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
