OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — A man has been charged with killing his wife and may be traveling with an 8-year-old girl who has been reported missing, authorities said Friday.
Prince George's County Police have obtained an arrest warrant charging Kahlil Malik Tatum, 51, of Washington with murder in the death of his wife, Andrea Denise Tatum, the police department said in a news release.
The body of Andrea Tatum, 51, was found Thursday in a motel room in Oxon Hill, where Prince George's County officers had gone to assist the Metropolitan Police Department in its search for Relisha Tenau Rudd, who was reporting missing earlier in the week.
Andrea Tatum, who police said had sustained an apparent gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, police found the unoccupied truck described in an Amber Alert for Relisha parked in Chapel Oaks in Prince George's County.
A spokesman for D.C. police told The Washington Post late Friday that officers don't know if Relisha is on foot with Kahlil Tatum, or in another vehicle.
D.C. police said Kahlil Tatum, an employee at a homeless shelter where Relisha's family had stayed for 18 months, was known to the family, The Post reported.
D.C. police notified Richmond authorities Thursday night that they had reason to believe Rudd might be in the greater Richmond area.
Relisha is about 4 feet tall and weighs about 70 to 80 pounds.
