A man has been shot in the face at a park in Aspen Hill, according to authorities.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at North Gate Park, located at 14100 Connecticut Ave., and found the victim at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Montgomery County police spokeswoman Britta Thomas.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police spokesman Lt. Bill Kellogg said the man was shot in the cheek, and was found somewhere deep within the park. He was transported to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown, Kellogg said Tuesday evening.

Initial reports indicated the weapon used in the shooting might have been a BB gun, Thomas said, but Kellogg confirmed that the man was shot with an actual gun.

Police are looking for a suspect, described only as a black male between 19 and 21 years old, Thomas said.
