Man shot to death near Gallaudet University

A man was fatally shot near Gallaudet University, D.C. police said.

About 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, police heard of gunshots coming from the area of the 1100 block of Eighth Street NE. Officers went to the scene and found 21-year-old Gregory Darnell Troxler suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Troxler, who was from Northeast D.C., was pronounced dead at the medical examiner's office.

Neither the incident nor the victim were connected to Gallaudet.
