A Southeast D.C. man was arrested Thursday in connection with two burglaries targeting elderly victims, police said.

Anthony Ford, 47, was charged with burglary one, D.C. police said.

One burglary occurred June 19 in the 1400 block of Florida Avenue NE and another was Tuesday in the 1200 block of G Street SE.

During the incidents, the suspect knocked on the victims' doors and said he was a maintenance worker who needed to fix a toilet leaking to the apartment below. After going into the victims' bathrooms, the robber assaulted the victims and stole personal property, police said.

The arrest came a day after police released video of a person of interest in the case. Police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said authorities couldn't confirm whether Ford was the man in the video.
