Man who threatened to jump from Key Bridge in custody

UPDATE: D.C. police said they have in custody the man who threatened to jump off the Key Bridge during rush hour traffic Tuesday. The man did not jump, and police were able to get him to safety shortly after 7 p.m. No one was injured and traffic is expected to open up soon.

The Key Bridge is closed in both directions as a man has threatened to jump from the bridge, according to D.C. police.

A man was reported outside of the rail on Tuesday during the evening commute. Fire and rescue units and Harbor Patrol units are on the scene.

Traffic heading out of the District was being diverted onto M Street NW as of 5:30 p.m. and motorists are facing major delays.
