A Manassas Park man was charged with killing an acquaintance who died in July, police said.

William Santiago, 29, was charged Tuesday with unlawful wounding in connection with the death of 42-year-old Amadeo Guerra-Giron.

On April 29, Fairfax County police went to the 3000 block of Virginia Dare Court in Chantilly and found Guerra-Giron in nearby woods after he was allegedly assaulted by Santiago.

Guerra-Giron, who was living in Fairfax County at the time, was initially taken to a local hospital, police said. In May, he was transferred under medical care to his home country of Guatemala, and he died on July 23 from injuries he sustained in the assault.
