NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana's casino winnings fell 3.5 percent statewide in March compared to a year ago, from a total of $232.2 million in 2013 to $224.1 million last month.
Figures released Thursday by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board show only two of Louisiana's 19 casinos made more money last month than in March 2013. Those were the New Orleans land casino and the Belle of Baton Rouge.
Harrah's New Orleans took $32.6 million from gamblers, up 3.2 percent from a year ago. Winnings for the Belle of Baton Rouge rose 4.2 percent, to $5.9 million.
Harrah's remained Louisiana's top casino, with L'Auberge Lake Charles second at $29.8 million.
The 14 riverboat casinos made $154.4 million, down 4.3 percent; the four race track slots casinos took in $37 million, down 5.6 percent.
