Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is calling for Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to resign over a scandal about long wait times for medical care. Grimes, Kentucky’s secretary of State, is the first Senate candidate in President Obama’s party to call for Shinseki’s ouster. Grimes said in a statement posted Thursday on Facebook, “We owe a solemn obligation to our veterans, and our government defaulted on that contract,” “I don’t see how that breach of trust with our veterans can be repaired if the current leadership stays in place.”
