< p>FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — A state senator from Frederick County is pulling his proposal for a toll on U.S. Route 15 because he says county leaders are cool to the idea.

Sen. Ron Young had suggested putting a toll near the Pennsylvania border to extract some revenue from drivers who don't pay Maryland taxes but use the state's roads.

Young, a Democrat, believes a well-placed toll could help the highway pay for its own upgrades.

But he tells The Frederick News-Post (http://tinyurl.com/ckumoj4) that "no one showed any interest in it" during a recent meeting between county commissioners and the Frederick County delegation.

Young says he's willing to change the bill to appeal to fellow lawmakers.

He says without new revenues, road projects like the widening of Route 15 will never happen.
