SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — Authorities are searching for a man after a state trooper and sheriff's deputy were injured as the man fled a team trying to arrest him in Salisbury.

Maryland State Police say a team including troopers, Salisbury Police and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office seeking 31-year-old Edwin Fletcher, who is wanted on drug charges, spotted him Wednesday night.

When the team surrounded the Dodge Ram pickup truck Fletcher was in, police say the driver — believed to be Fletcher — drove over a car, injuring the trooper inside.

Police say officers fired their weapons, but the driver fled and the truck was found abandoned. Police don't believe Fletcher or any officers were struck.

The trooper and an injured deputy were taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
