ESSEX, Md. (AP) -- Police in Baltimore County say an eighth-grade student brought a gun to school, but the weapon was confiscated and no was injured.

Police say Stemmers Run Middle School in Essex was on lockdown Tuesday morning as police searched the building. The school will be dismissed at the regular time.

A news briefing is scheduled at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the county Public Safety Building in Towson.

The incident comes two weeks after a student at Perry Hall High School shot another boy in the school cafeteria.
