Meeting celebrates being black and gay

The Howard County Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will focus on African-American homosexuals in their Feb. 13 meeting.

The Rev. Anthony McCarthy will discuss his experiences as a political activist, radio talk show host, publisher and mayoral spokesman in the meeting.

PFLAG member Patricia English will describe mothering her black, gay son in today?s society.

The National Black Justice Coalition, a civil rights organization dedicated to empowering black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people, will co-sponsor the event.

The free meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center at 7246 Cradlerock Way in Columbia.

PFLAG provides support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people and their loved ones.
