Metro plans to raise its fares starting in July, with rail trips costing an average of 5 percent more.

But the hikes range widely depending on the length and time of the trip, with some rising as much as 27 percent and some actually dropping with the elimination of the 20-cent "peak of the peak" surcharge.

Now rail and bus commuters can calculate exactly how much their trips will cost under the new rates.

The transit agency said Wednesday that riders can get new fare totals when using the online Trip Planner but only when entering a travel date of July 2 or later.
