Metro will stay open late at two stations Thursday night to help basketball fans get home, the transit agency announced Wednesday.

The Verizon Center in D.C. is hosting the NCAA 2013 East Regional games Thursday night -- one at 7:15 p.m., and another at 9:45 p.m.

Metro's Gallery Place and Judiciary Square stations will be open until 12:50 a.m. for fans trying to get home after the games. Other station entrances will be closed, but riders will be able to exit from other stations, the agency announced.

Metro said the Verizon Center is paying for the cost of staying open later.
