NEW YORK (AP) — The Metropolitan Museum of Art says it had 6.2 million visitors during the last fiscal year. That's the third year in a row that attendance has gone over the six million mark.
The museum says the attendance numbers are for its main building on Fifth Avenue as well as The Cloisters in upper Manhattan.
The Cloisters focuses on the art of the Middle Ages. It had almost 350,000 visitors, an increase of 110,000 from the year before.
This was the first year that visitors were able to see the museum any day of the week. The museum said visitors came from all over the United States and 187 countries.
The fiscal year ended June 30.
