During her interview with the Tom Joyner Morning Show yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama was asked if she recognized her legacy – particularly during Black History Month.

The First Lady explained that she thinks about it more often since beginning her second term, but added that it is difficult because she is so busy.

“It’s hard to get that time to reflect on that,” Michelle Obama admitted. “Just, honestly because the days just fly by, you know. So I’m trying to be more proactive about thinking about that legacy.”

The First Lady explained that she was “in the throes” of trying to build something worthy and lasting during their time in the White House.

“If you watch the news, that’s an everyday battle and it’s an all consuming battle,” Obama added. “We relish it and we’re trying to make the most of it, to make sure that the folks who raised us and whose shoulders we stand on feel like we are worthy of this responsibility that we’ve been handed over.”
