EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — As the idea of failing bubbles up in the business world, four Michigan guys have developed a way to bring it to the stage.
Failure: Lab features six speakers sharing 10-minute stories, on — what else? — failure.
But the speakers aren't supposed to reveal the takeaway. That's left to audience members, who are encouraged to share their thoughts on social media or notecards collected on the way out.
Failure: Lab has staged three shows in its home state of Michigan. Now, the founders are aiming higher by licensing the name and planning shows in New Orleans, Mexico City and possibly even Baghdad.
Keeping lessons offstage is designed to promote conversation and differentiate Failure: Lab from a crowded field of "idea conferences," such as the global juggernaut TED.
