A Poolesville woman died after single-car crash in Montgomery County, and her 18-year-old daughter was injured, police said.

About 9:40 p.m. Monday, Frances Cooke D'Anna, 52, was driving a blue 2008 Hyundai Elantra westbound on Darnestown Road when the vehicle went through standing water on the road. D'Anna lost control of the Hyundai, and it crossed the eastbound lane of Darnestown Road near Bucklodge Road and struck a tree, Montgomery County police said.

D'Anna was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her daughter, the only passenger in the Hyundai, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Detectives are investigating the crash.
