RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Thousands of electricity customers in Virginia remain without service but utility crews are making progress.

As of Thursday morning, more than 108,000 customers across the state have no electricity due to last weekend's severe storms. That's down from a peak of about 1.2 million.

The outages include 77,931 Appalachian Power customers, 28,126 Dominion Virginia Power customers and 1,976 electric cooperative customers.

Appalachian Power says electricity may not be restored to some customers until Saturday night.

The storms have been blamed for 12 deaths in Virginia.
