The Senate Armed Services Committee will meet this morning in a closed meeting to discuss the Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl prisoner exchange. Bergdahl was a prisoner of the Taliban for nearly five years and was recently released in exchange for five senior members of the Taliban who were being held at Guantanamo Bay. The controversial swap has drawn criticism from many lawmakers in Washington.
Senate Democrats this morning will dig into the hot topic of the week, student loans. Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and others are holding a news conference later this morning to discuss the issue.
Warren, a freshman senator from Massachusetts, recently introduced a bill that would allow borrowers to refinance their high interest rates.
