During an “Ask Me Anything” event on Reddit today, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow admitted that she was a fan of FOX News anchor Shepard Smith citing his “anchorman gravitas.”

Maddow was asked by a Reddit user if she admired any anchors from other cable news channels.

“I really like the way Shep Smith balances anchorman gravitas… with a willingness to put the artifice aside and acknowledge what it really going on,” Maddow explained. “Some of us can pull off seeming like human beings on TV, some of us can pull off V.O.G. (Voice of God) authority, but Shep is really very good at both. Better than anyone else, I think.”

Maddow added that she had met the FOX News anchor recalling that he was a “nice person.” She also praised the FOX anchor in 2010 for bucking the trend at the network that liberals love to hate.

After one Reddit user asked Maddow if she considered herself a “biased” newscaster, she explained that she was “not more than the average bear.”

“I try to be open about where I’m coming from and what I believe, while also being trustworthy about the facts of what’s going on in the world,” Maddow said.
