If hip-hop music manager Michael “Blue” Williams, the head of Family Tree Entertainment, has his way, New Yorkers will be able to trade guns for Beyonce tickets.
That’s part of Williams’ plan for a private-sector gun buyback that he’s pitched to the New York Police Department, the New York Daily News reports.
“We want to get as many guns off the streets, and if this works, we’d like to support it,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the Daily News.
If his “Guns for Greatness” buyback is approved, Williams, who has managed OutKast and Cee-Lo Green, hopes his celebrity ties will help get both Beyonce and husband Jay-Z on board.
“I think we should all work together to help get guns off the streets,” Williams said.
Beyonce has voiced her support for gun control laws. Jay-Z, on the other hand, appears to have a different issue with guns.
Beyonce is scheduled to perform in New York City’s Roseland Ballroom in August. Jay-Z is slated to perform with Justin Timberlake at Yankee Stadium in July.
