U.S. senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, both D-N.J., say they want to prevent safety regulation changes which they say could extend truckers' time on the road between mandatory breaks. Both Menendez and Booker said Monday morning they would introduce amendments to a transportation funding bill in an effort to prevent proposed changes to hours of service provisions while a study is completed on the changes' impacts. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins proposed the original amendments, which could relax regulations.
