KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — NATO says a service member with the international military force in Afghanistan has been killed in an insurgent attack in the eastern part of the country.

The coalition did not release any other details, or disclose the nationality of the soldier, who was killed in one of the most volatile parts of the war-torn nation.

So far this year, 283 international troops have been killed in Afghanistan, including 248 Americans.
