LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A bill that would impose stricter state licensing requirements for geologists has won final approval in the Legislature.

Lawmakers voted 49-0 on Monday to pass the proposal.

The measure by Sen. Ken Haar of Malcolm gives the Nebraska Board of Geologists more power to regulate licenses. Geologists who are seeking to renew a license would have to disclose felony convictions, the suspension or revocation of their license in another state, and any issues involving dishonest or unethical behavior.

The bill would allow the state to grant licenses to out-of-state geologists who are currently certified and have at least 15 years of relevant experience.
