LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A new exhibition at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will explore the human stories conveyed in vintage photographs of quilts.

The exhibition is titled "Posing with Patchwork: Quilts in Photographs, 1855-1955." It opens March 1 and runs through Dec. 1. "Posing with Patchwork" will match vintage photographs with quilts from the museum's collection.

Museum curator Marin Hanson says "quilts were an important aspect of people's lives for as long as photographs have been around." She says people were proud of the quilts or the family member who made them. In other photos, she says, the quilts are symbols of comfort.
