Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto announced Tuesday that the state joined 37 others and the District of Columbia in a $7 million agreement.
States argued that while Google vehicles drove through neighborhoods between 2008 and March 2010 taking photos for the mapping software, the company also collected data being transferred through unsecured wireless networks. The settlement acknowledges that could have included Internet browsing data or emails.
Google has since disabled the equipment that was collecting the data, and agreed to destroy the information as soon as possible.
Representatives from Google didn't immediately return a request seeking comment.
Street View allows users to zoom in to ground level while browsing maps.
