ENKA, N.C. (AP) — New Belgium Brewing Co. says it will put a distribution center in Buncombe County, creating 30 jobs next year.
The company will build the distribution center in Enka as it is completing its brewery in Asheville, the Asheville Citizen-Times (http://avlne.ws/1lnHsqG) reported.
The Colorado company is expected to employ a total of 140 workers when it opens in the fall of next year.
The Buncombe County Board of Adjustment is scheduled to consider approving the building plans at a meeting Feb. 12. Zoning administrator Josh O'Conner said there appears to be "nothing particularly problematic" in the application.
The plans include room for an expansion should it be needed.
New Belgium said nearly two years ago that it would build a brewery in Asheville.
Some residents on the west side of the city worried about truck traffic to and from the brewery., The company said it will work to use several different routes between the brewery and the new distribution center.
The warehouse will handle New Belgium distribution for the East Coast.
