MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A new play by playwright Lee Blessing gets its first public reading at the University of Minnesota Saturday.

"Courting Harry" explores the friendship of Chief Justice Warren Burger and Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun. The friendship of the two Minnesota natives is put to the test by the Roe v. Wade abortion case.

Blessing has been on campus since Wednesday working with students.

Theater students will perform "Courting Harry" Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Rarig Center's Kilburn Arena Theatre on the university's West Bank. The reading is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations required.

Blessing is a Minneapolis native. His other works include "A Walk in the Woods" and "A Body of Water."

St. Paul's History Theatre will produce "Courting Harry" this spring.
