The National Park Service got the order to put new turf on the National Mall between Seventh and 14th streets.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has also mandated the upkeep of the new drainage and irrigation system between Third and Seventh streets, the Associated Press reported.

The rehabilitation effort would ask any group that holds an event on the Mall to guarantee that they are able to install new turf or able to repair damaged turf where necessary.

The secretarial order came out of Salazar's office on Thursday.
