American University will announce its new men’s basketball coach on Tuesday, replacing Jeff Jones, who departed early this month for Old Dominion. On Monday, American was down to three finalists – Georgetown assistant Mike Brennan, Virginia assistant Jason Williford, and former Ball State and Lehigh head coach Billy Taylor.

Brennan, an assistant at AU from 2007-09, is a former player and assistant coach at Princeton who has been at GU for the last four years. Williford, also a former AU assistant (2005-09), played at Virginia and has served there under Tony Bennett the last four years. Taylor has been a head coach the last 11 years, serving at Lehigh (2002-07) and Ball State (2007-2013).  He was the Patriot League coach of the year in 2003 and 2004, leading Lehigh to the NCAA tournament in 2004.
