GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A new music festival is set to take the West Michigan stage.

GRandJazzFest kicks off in Grand Rapids' Rosa Parks Circle on Saturday.

Renowned guitarist Tim Bowman, Billboard's 2009 Top 10 Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year, will headline the free day-long and evening event that includes performances by Michigan-based jazz artists.

Lansing-based saxophonist Phil Denny and Grand Rapids-based Walt Gutowski & The Bridge Street Band also will perform.

GRandJazzFest is sponsored by Grand Rapids resident Audrey Sundstrom and several jazz aficionados, including the West Michigan Jazz Society.

Sundstrom says in a release that she is "excited to bring a major jazz festival to West Michigan." She is the wife of City of Grand Rapids Manager Greg Sundstrom.
