New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a possible Republican White House contender, is enmeshed in a scandal over an alleged political vendetta. The governor planned to meet with reporters today to address charges that his staff plotted intentional traffic jams at a busy bridge to punish a local Democratic mayor. The scandal erupted with the public release of incriminating emails showing a top Christie aide played a key role in closing some lanes leading to the George Washington Bridge into New York City from the town of Fort Lee, New Jersey. Christie was scheduled to hold a news conference at his office in Trenton, the state capital.
