NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — A New Jersey police officer has admitted padding his paycheck.

Milltown police Lt. Douglas Cole pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of filing false overtime vouchers and collecting money for work he knew he never performed.

Under terms of a plea agreement, the 47-year-old will resign from the department and serve up to five years' probation when he's sentenced in March.

Officials have not yet determined the total amount of restitution that Cole will need to pay.
