A new bill sponsored by Democratic Senator John Walsh of Montana, is designed to make significant changes to military policy in an attempt to reduce the number of veteran suicides. An estimated 22 veterans die by suicide each day, according to a report released last year by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The legislation, which was announced Thursday, would give combat zone veterans 15 years of medical care provided by VA instead of the five they currently receive.
