FACEBOOK'S NEW FRONTIER: After hinting it was coming several months ago, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a new search feature that's designed to make it easier for the more than 1 billion users of his company's social networking service to find compelling content, people and recommendations.

STARTING SLOWLY: Facebook will roll out its new tool, called "graph search" over the next year to allow for more time for fine tuning.

POTENTIAL IMPLICATIONS: The tool unveiled could give people more reasons to dwell on Facebook's website at the expense of Internet search leader Google and other rivals such as Yelp Inc. and LinkedIn Corp.
