GOING AFTER GOOGLE: Microsoft has launched a holiday marketing campaign that lambastes Google's recently introduced requirement that merchants pay to have their products listing in the shopping-only section of Google's ubiquitous search engine.

PAY TO PLAY? Ads that started Wednesday say Google Inc.'s search engine is a bad place to shop during the holidays, because fees paid determine how products are ranked in shopping-only results and leave out potential better deals from merchants who don't ante up.

BING BOUNCE: Microsoft Corp. is hoping to divert traffic from Google to its Bing search engine.
