Sometimes, legislation that wins unanimous support in one Idaho chamber just runs out of steam in the other.
Ask Rep. Lynn Luker, of Boise. He'll tell you.
The Republican thought he had a winner during the 2011 session, with his bill to allow Idaho homeowners on church missions or long-term military deployments to keep a generous property tax exemption, even if they aren't living in their home.
The measure cleared the House 65-to-0.
That's when the trouble started.
A bill that representatives regardless of party supported wound up getting the cold shoulder from the Senate Local Government committee, where it didn't even win a hearing.
Luker is back Wednesday in the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, hoping his brainchild gets a little better treatment from senators during the 2012 session.
