The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has closed the Fools Bay Bridge on Grassy Lake Wildlife Management Area because deteriorating bank conditions have damaged bridge pilings.
The department said Wednesday that's the only vehicle bridge to the east side of Fools Bay.
It says it will try to install a low-water crossing on Fools Bay, but rain may delay that work.
The bridge itself will be closed until repairs are complete on the pilings that support the bridge's western approach.
The bridge is in the north-central part of the 12,983-acre wildlife management area in northern Avoyelles Parish, and is less than a mile southwest of Grand Lake.
