New Hampshire's House is working on a bill to legalize two casinos.

The House put off a vote on the bill until Feb. 8 so the House Constitutional Review and Statutory Recodification and Ways and Means committees could hold a joint work session Thursday on the bill that would allow the Lottery Commission to license two casinos. The licenses would cost operators $50 million and would let them install 5,000 video slot machines.

The state's profits would be used to lower business taxes.

Gov. John Lynch promises to veto the bill. Lynch said he is concerned about the possible effects on the state's quality of life, the potential influence gambling lobbyists and industry officials would have and the possibility that more casinos would be added later.
