The director of a western New York animal shelter has been terminated after a report alleged animal neglect and questionable euthanasia practices.

Niagara County SPCA Executive Director John Faso was terminated by the shelter's board of directors Monday afternoon following a three-hour meeting.

The move follows the release of a highly critical report Friday by Erie County SPCA Executive Director Barbara Carr, who conducted a three-week investigation.

Carr described the Niagara County shelter as chaotic and dysfunctional, and referred to some of its practices as "totally improper."
