State regulators have told the Brazos River Authority to provide a more detailed plan as the group seeks a permit for more water.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on Wednesday gave authority officials 10 months to submit more specifics.

Two administrative law judges previously recommended that the TCEQ deny the permit or order revisions to the application.

The Houston Chronicle (http://bit.ly/yVJhRB) reports the authority seeks to divert about 1 million acre-feet of water for potential sales. The authority has rights to about 700,000 acre-feet of water, but has sold out its supply to cities and industry.

Authority spokesman Bech Bruun says the water supplier will move forward under the commission's timeline.

Critics, including some farmers, environmentalists and Dow Chemical Co., which uses river water, have raised supply concerns.
