The Louisville Zoo's School at the Zoo are among the programs that will benefit from a $40,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS.

School at the Zoo is a weeklong program primarily for fourth- and seventh-graders who use the zoo as a classroom. The zoo says the concept began in 1999 and addresses a need for enhanced science education. Nearly 7,000 students have participated since the program began.

The zoo says the UPS Foundation has given more than $500,000 to the School at the Zoo program. This year, the foundation is also supporting the zoo's annual Halloween party, which attracts some 85,000 visitors in costume each year, and Zoofari, an annual fundraiser.
