A coalition advocating for national public service is saluting Miami Dade College President Eduardo Padron.
Padron was honored the week with the Voices for National Services' top award for Citizen Service. He will share the award next month in Washington with rocker Jon Bon Jovi. It has previously honored the likes of Caroline Kennedy and former President George H.W. Bush.
Voices is a coalition of service programs, state commissions and individuals who champion public service. It was created in 2003 to support federally backed domestic volunteer group AmeriCorps.
Padron is the first U.S. college president to receive the honor.
